Introduction

A word from the mayor

Cambridge is a vibrant town in the heart of the
Waikato which many people – and certainly our residents – consider as one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand.

With its tree lined streets, heritage buildings and boutique shopping and eateries, Cambridge is the perfect combination of charm, class and charisma.  The abundance of green spaces, the power of Maungatautari and the majesty of the Waikato River add to the beauty of the area.

Part of Waipā Home of Champions, Cambridge has a very proud tradition of raising champion sportspeople. With world-class sporting facilities on our doorstep like the Grassroots Trust Velodrome and Lake Karāpiro, we celebrate our champions through the variety of national and international events that we can take great pride in hosting every year.

The talent doesn’t stop there though. Cambridge is full of champion businesses, schools, community groups…and most importantly, champion spirit.

With our central location and continued investment in our trails and cycleways – it’s no surprise Cambridge is known as an easy and attractive place to live and explore – and that reputation grows year on year. With growth comes challenges but most importantly opportunity and Waipā District Council is leading the way in planning for the future, while retaining the unique aspects that make our communities so special.

Cambridge is a very special part of New Zealand and I encourage you to go out and enjoy, explore and embrace what our amazing community has to offer.

Mayor Susan O’Regan
